After living in Perth, Western Australia for most of our lives, and enjoying the single life until we were both nearly 40 we met whilst members of an outdoor club, AOA . It was in this club that we both developed a taste for the outdoors and the many different aspects it can bring focus to in your life. We found the peace of mind and the satisfaction of self reliance the outdoors can bring very fulfilling. We also like a challenge and stepping outside our respective comfort zones. This mostly takes the form of long distance bushwalking and cycle touring. We also like travelling, in particular to areas outside the usual tourist traps.

During 1998 an opportunity came up to move to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Peter's job was being centralised so  we took the opportunity, seeing it as a chance to explore new horizons. We moved there in July 1999.

In May 2000 Peter was offered a twelve month secondment in the USA as Operations Manager for Telstra Incorporated. It was an opportunity we couldn't pass up and although it meant packing up our house (yet again!) we just couldn't knock it back. If we hadn't moved to Melbourne it was unlikely Peter would have been offered the position in the US

We've now finished our stint in The US and have moved back to our home in Melbourne. We had a wonderful time, though it is good to be back with our own things

So what of the future? Well, after our abortive attempt at cycling across Australia we've decided to take a break from holidays for a couple of years and try and settle a bit. So at this time we're not really sure what our next trip will be. This doesn't mean we won't change our minds in the near future, we just don't have any plans at this time. We also have a mortgage to pay off!
